Fifteen Ways a Teacher Can Reduce Their Carbon Emissions

  1. Do not leave your telly or computer monitor on standby.
  2. Unplug your mobile phone or MP3 player charger once you have finished charging.
  3. Take a shower instead of a bath.
  4. Become a recycling champion at school and at home.
  5. Plant a tree.
  6. Don't overfill your kettle.
  7. Know where your lunch came from; buy locally grown and produced foods.
  8. Be a role model for your pupils by walking or cycling to school.
  9. Use a mug not a disposable cup.
  10. Fly less, earn fewer air miles.
  11. Use recycled paper for all school documents and always use both sides of a sheet of paper.
  12. Fit energy-saving light bulbs.
  13. Use a biro from start to finish, or a refillable fountain pen.
  14. Reduce the usage of white boards and remember to switch it off during lunch and after class finishes.
  15. Have a Climate Change Awareness After School Club or activity day run by pupils.
